Reflecting on We Heart Oceano: A Successful Community Cleanup

As a local 805 carpenter and surfboard builder, I have seen firsthand the impact that community service can have on our environment and our sense of community. I'm excited to share about a recent event that brought us together for a common cause: We Heart Oceano. Following successful cleanups in Arroyo Grande and Nipomo, organizer Kendra Paulding's community beautification project made its way to Oceano, and it was a great success.

The Impact of We Heart Oceano

1. Beautifying Our Community: We Heart Oceano was about more than just picking up trash—it was about revitalizing our public spaces. From painting picnic tables to mulching and planting, every task contributed to making Oceano Park a more pleasant place for everyone.

2. Utilizing Skills: As someone who works with their hands, I know the value of skilled labor. This event was a great opportunity to put those skills to good use. Organizer Kendra Paulding mentioned putting everyone's abilities to use, we saw all ages participating in this event!

3. Strengthening Community Ties: Volunteering is a powerful way to connect with your neighbors and build a stronger community. By working together on projects like We Heart Oceano, we fostered a sense of camaraderie and pride in our shared spaces. One of the most rewarding aspects of We Heart Oceano was the opportunity to connect with other local business owners and families. The event fostered a sense of camaraderie and collaboration, allowing us to share ideas, support each other's endeavors, and build a stronger, more united community.

Encouragement to Join Next Time

We Heart Oceano made a lasting impact on our community. Many volunteers brought their skills, enthusiasm, and a willingness to get their hands dirty. Let's continue to come together to tidy up Oceano Park and carry on the legacy of community service that defines our South County. Your participation can help ensure that our parks remain beautiful, welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Spread the Word: Please share this experience with friends, family, and anyone who might be interested in contributing next time. The more hands we have, the greater the impact we can make.

We hope for equal and safe parks and play structures for the children of Oceano, regardless of funding politics. We hope to see you at the next event!
